Probably one of my proudest and most humbling moments of my time playing paintball was 2019. For the last few years the Lionesses ladies paintball team has been a platform for women to play together and develop skills in order to grow, both individually as players and for women's paintball as a whole.
During round 4 of CPPS 2019, we were approached by a girl called Lily and her Dad. Lily was 7 at the time and has been a big supporter of ladies paintball, following teams through YouTube videos and Facebook. Lily's dad asked us if we could meet Lily and take some photos with her. That was a very humbling moment for me and the rest of the girls. To be seen as a role model for the younger generation really put into perspective what we do and why we do it.
Following the initial meeting Lily continued to support the Lionesses on our journey, and was presented with her own Lionesses jersey shortly after. Having Lily on the sidelines cheering us on really makes it all worth it.
Rosa Parks once said:
'Each person must live their life as a model for others'.
Inspiring one little girl to chase her dreams is more rewarding than any trophy or medal, and I can't wait to see her representing her country in a few years time.
Thank you Lily for reminding us what it's all about.
